History
The Five-County Building Officials Association (FBOA) dates back to 1956, but it wasn't always known by that name.
Founded by Ohio building inspectors who saw the need for uniform codes for Summit, Medina, and Portage Counties, it began as the Tri-County Building Officials Association (TBOA). The founders fulfilled the need for uniformity by working together with building contractors to produce the Tri-County Building Code.
In an effort to promote statewide code uniformity, TBOA in 1962 was instrumental in helping to form the Ohio Building Officials Association (OBOA).
TBOA officially adding two counties (Wayne and Stark) in 1965 and changed its’ name to Five-County Building Officials Association. Over the past years, FBOA has amassed fourteen different counties with more than 130 active members.
